The Western Central Regional Police Command has brought seven individuals before the Special Court for Illegal Mining in Sekondi for their alleged involvement in illegal mining operations.

The accused—identified as Ibrahim Dauda, Michael Tettey Komlorm, Douglas Ayambila, Elvis Aborta, Nsoh Oto (alias Agorogo), Kwadwo George (alias Sergio), and Emmanuel Van (alias Atta)—have been charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and engaging in mining activities without a license.

All seven have been remanded into prison custody and are expected to reappear in court on April 17, 2025.

In a separate but related incident, two Chinese nationals, 38-year-old Huan Ciongjian and 56-year-old Ling Yong—were arrested for illegal mining along the banks of the Bonsa River.

Authorities have confirmed that all foreign nationals apprehended in connection with illegal mining have been transferred to the Ghana Immigration Service for further processing and action.
