The University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) in Tarkwa has welcomed a timely and impactful environmental initiative from SHEQ-PA Ghana.
The gesture, centred on sustainability, reflected a shared commitment to environmental responsibility and strategic partnership.
In celebration of World Environment Day—and support of the global campaign themed #BeatPlasticPollution—SHEQ-PA Ghana donated plastic bottle receptacles to UMaT.
The donation forms part of the Association’s broader mission to promote environmental awareness and responsible waste management practices across Ghana.

The brief but significant handover ceremony was attended by key members of the university’s leadership, including Assoc. Prof. Saviour Mantey, Vice Dean, Faculty of Geosciences and Environmental Studies and Dr. Eric Stemn, Head, Environmental and Safety Engineering Department.
There was also Sefam Abra Afewu, Assistant Registrar, Works and Physical Development Office
Their presence underscored UMaT’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and collaboration with industry players.
Representing SHEQ-PA Ghana, President Akua Agyeiwaah Berantuo Armooh expressed gratitude to the UMaT community for their warm reception of the initiative.

She reaffirmed the Association’s dedication to advancing Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) standards across the country, starting with practical, community-focused interventions like this one.
Beyond its functional value, the donation symbolised a growing movement for collective environmental action.
By installing these receptacles, UMaT takes a proactive step toward fostering a culture of sustainability among students and staff alike.
SHEQ-PA Ghana believes lasting change starts with visible, consistent actions. On this day, that effort took the shape of green bins—simple tools with the power to shift habits, shape mindsets, and inspire cleaner, more responsible communities.
World Environment Day 2025 was marked not just by advocacy but by action. For SHEQ-PA Ghana, it was a moment to give, to engage, and to lead by example.
