Owusu Amoah Frank is the MCE for Offinso South
In a dramatic challenge levelled against the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Offinso South, Owusu Amoah Frank, has publicly questioned the extent of developmental projects undertaken by President Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration in the Ashanti Region, a traditional stronghold of the NPP.
Speaking as a guest on Angel FM Kumasi’s “The Platform,” a popular socio-political show hosted by Nana Darkwa Soldier, as monitored by GhanaWeb’s Nana Peprah, Owusu Amoah Frank asserted that the NPP has failed to deliver substantial development to the Ashanti Region, despite the overwhelming support it has received since 1992.
The MCE issued a bold challenge to the host, as well as to the general public to name just ten Senior High School (SHS) projects that were both started and completed by the Nana Akufo-Addo administration anywhere in Ghana, and he would immediately resign from both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and his position as the MCE for Offinso South.
“Show me 10 SHS started and completed by Nana Akuffo Addo…I will quit NDC and my post as MCE,” Owusu Amoah Frank declared, effectively expressing his readiness for the challenge.
The MCE’s comments come amidst ongoing debates about the distribution of development across Ghana, particularly in regions that consistently support specific political parties.
Notably, just two months into his tenure, Owusu Amoah Frank has already initiated the construction of several roads and a market within his jurisdiction, signalling a commitment to tangible development in the Offinso South municipality.
He, however, revealed the John Dramani Mahama-led NDC administration’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of Ghanaians vis-a-vis developmental projects, job creation, and economic stability, among others.
