The Mankrado of the Sokode Traditional Area, Togbe Adzato III, has emphasised the importance of unity among the youth of Sokode.

He believes that such unity is essential for investing in skill training and youth empowerment, which are crucial for the community’s development.

According to Togbe Adzato, creating a vibrant and sustainable future for the community requires strategic investments in skill training, youth empowerment, and public service. He stressed that these three components are vital for fostering growth, stability, and prosperity in the community.

Togbe Adzato made these remarks during the 2nd edition of the Sokode Gbogame Youth Homecoming, which took place on April 21, 2025, at Sokode Gbogame. The theme of the event was “Building the Sokode Gbogame We Want through Skills Training, Youth Empowerment, and Public Service.”

The Mankrado outlined the importance of practical skill training in areas such as agriculture, entrepreneurship, technology, and trade skills. He believes this will equip the youth with the necessary tools to achieve economic independence and drive local development.

Togbe Adzato also emphasized the need to empower young people beyond skill development. He believes it is essential to nurture leadership qualities, encourage active participation in community decision-making, and provide platforms for expression and innovation.

To facilitate this, the Mankrado suggested establishing youth centers, mentoring programs, and community leadership initiatives, enabling youth to become active contributors to self-reliance and visionary leadership.

Furthermore, Togbe Adzato stressed the importance of strengthening public institutions through promoting transparency, accountability, and community engagement. He believes these measures will ensure that resources reach the areas where they are most needed.

The President of the Sokode Gbogame Youth Association, Mr. Winfred Afesorgbor, championed the idea that the physical development of the area is key to achieving the community’s goals. He points to the proposed community center project as a significant milestone in reaching these objectives.

Mr. Afesorgbor urged the community to uphold unity as a guiding principle and work together to support the vision of building a community center. He believes that every contribution, no matter how small, will be a crucial building block in the foundation of the community center.

The community center project aims to provide a safe and inspiring environment that fosters growth and development. It will serve as a hub for activities, where ideas flourish, talents are nurtured, and bonds are strengthened.

The Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Richmond Edem Kofi Kpotosu, has pledged his support for the community, promising to donate 30 bags of cement and One Thousand Ghana Cedis to kick-start the project.

The community is optimistic that the proposed community center will serve as a beacon of opportunity, attracting positive engagement and keeping young people constructively occupied.
