As part of efforts to empower communities through education, the authorities at St. Mark Anglican School in Essikado, Takoradi, have received a fully renovated educational facility.

This impactful initiative, spearheaded by Karpowership Ghana, aimed to revitalize the school’s educational infrastructure and has garnered widespread praise, particularly from the Paramount Chief of Essikado, Nana Kobina Nketsia V, an esteemed alumnus of the school.

The project marks the Ghana’s second major school renovation in Takoradi by the firm, further emphasizing the its dedication to enhancing educational facilities in Ghana.

The comprehensive renovation addressed critical issues, including leaking roofs, damaged blackboards, broken doors and windows, and cracked floors. Additionally, significant upgrades were made, such as the installation of a fully functional washroom, a mechanized borehole for clean water, and an improved learning environment tailored to meet the needs of both students and teachers.

The handing-over ceremony, themed “Powering Communities Through Education,” aligns with Karpowership Ghana’s mission to support quality education and advance Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4, which focuses on ensuring inclusive and equitable education for all.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nana Kobina Nketsia V commended Karpowership Ghana for its valuable contribution to the community.

“Education is the cornerstone of development. By transforming this school, Karpowership has invested in the future of Essikado, and I am personally very grateful,” he stated.

He also urged stakeholders to support community development initiatives and encouraged parents to play active roles in shaping their children’s futures.

Sandra Amarquaye, Communications Manager for Karpowership Ghana, expressed the company’s pride in the project, emphasizing the transformative power of education.

“We believe education is the foundation of every community. Through this renovation, we aim not only to contribute to achieving SDG 4 but also to provide students with an environment to learn, grow, and excel. We are committed to nurturing responsible adults who will contribute positively to society,” she said.

The Headmistress of St. Mark Anglican School, Madam Flora Ohenewa Kwafo, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Karpowership Ghana for transforming the school.

“This renovation is a long-awaited answered prayer. We will ensure the facility is well-maintained, and I urge my staff to join me in making this possible,” she stated.

Madam Matilda Lairg, Regional Manager of the Anglican School Unit, Ghana Education Service, also praised the facilitators for the impactful project.

“Thank you for this incredible transformation. But its true value will only be realized if parents and teachers work together to shape the future of our children,” she noted.

Parents and students also shared their appreciation. Adjoa Junah, a parent, described the renovation as life-changing.

“This is a dream come true. My son now has a beautiful and safe place to learn. I’m thankful for their generosity and for giving our children a better chance to succeed,” she said.

Georgina Owusu, a student, echoed similar sentiments, saying, “I’m so happy to be back in a classroom that is clean and safe. I promise to study hard and make my teachers and parents proud.”

The newly renovated St. Mark Anglican School is set to benefit over 500 students and will also serve as a valuable resource for the Essikado community. The facility’s design allows it to double as a venue for social events, further expanding its impact on the local community.
