The Minister for Health, Mr Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has noted that the pressing challenges facing the health sector, including the uneven distribution of healthcare professionals, inadequate healthcare infrastructure and the rising burden of infectious and non-communicable diseases, can be addressed through stakeholder involvement.
The Minister said this when he officially commenced duty, after being sworn in last Saturday.
He was welcomed by a gathering of staff and management of the ministry for a brief introduction.
The Minister indicated that the government would ensure that the country has quality, affordable and accessible healthcare, adding that the government would provide incentives for health workers to accept postings in rural areas.
“With your support, I am confident that we will overcome challenges in the health sector and will be victorious in achieving one health in the country,” he added.
The Chief Director for the Ministry, Alhaji Hafiz Adam, urged civil servants to be neutral in the discharge of their duties, adding that innovative solutions, strengthening the healthcare system and a culture of excellence and accountability are needed to develop the health sector.
