Dr. Ekua Amoako, the 2024 NPP manifesto spokesperson on health, has criticized the Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, accusing it of making excuses instead of delivering on its mandate.
According to her, the NDC appears to still be in campaign mode, despite winning power and being sworn into office three months ago.
Speaking on Accra-based GHOne TV on Wednesday, April 2, Dr. Amoako took a swipe at the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, over his claim that a certain Member of Parliament took money to suppress an exposé on ghost names at the National Service Authority.
She described the claim as baseless, urging the Attorney General to prosecute individuals allegedly involved in misappropriating state funds rather than making excuses.
“The NDC has to sit up and realize that the campaign season is over. You cannot run a country on propaganda. By the end of four years, all these baseless excuses for your inability to perform will not hold water. All the goodwill you have will have disappeared—flown away like the guinea fowls,” she said.
Dr. Amoako further questioned the Attorney General’s assertion, arguing that an MP does not have the power to kill a story.
“Do you think an MP has the authority to suppress a story?
“If you believe someone has committed an offense, this is your time to prove it. We are waiting and hoping you can substantiate all the frivolous allegations you made,”she added.
