We, the Concerned Youth of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) from the Bono and Bono East Regions, are utterly outraged and appalled by the disgraceful actions of Mr. Sammy Gyamfi, now the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, who was seen openly handing over huge sums of money—reportedly in U.S. dollars—to the discredited and fraudulent so-called evangelist, Nana Agradaa, in full public view.
This sickening display of reckless extravagance, staged before countless witnesses and cameras, is a gross insult to the very core of the suffering Ghanaian youth and a total betrayal of the values and sacrifices of loyal NDC foot soldiers across the country. What makes this even more infuriating is the fact that Mr. Gyamfi has been in office for barely four months—and yet he finds it appropriate to funnel money into the hands of a notorious scammer and a known sympathizer of the NPP, the same regime we fought tirelessly to remove!
Imagine if this same act had taken place under an NPP government—by now, countless Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), pressure groups, and media houses would have been screaming from every rooftop. Yet today, under our own watch, in an NDC-led administration, the silence is deafening.
We need to remind Ghanaians and the world: the NDC is not in opposition. We are the ruling party. Sammy Gyamfi is not merely a party communicator anymore—he is a government appointee, heading a key strategic institution, the Ghana Gold Board. His actions do not just reflect personal failure—they tarnish the image of the entire NDC government and undermine the credibility of President John Mahama’s new administration.
This reckless conduct violates the spirit of Article 40 of the NDC Constitution, which enjoins party members to exhibit discipline, modesty, and accountability. It also breaches the public trust placed in appointees, as established under Chapter 24 of the 1992 Constitution, which demands that public officials conduct themselves in a manner that upholds the dignity and integrity of the office they occupy.
We, the youth, are suffering. Many of us remain unemployed, forgotten, and ignored. Meanwhile, Mr. Gyamfi is busy flaunting power and wealth before a known fraudster who once pledged allegiance to our political enemies? This is nothing short of treachery.
We demand:
1. An immediate and unqualified public apology from Mr. Sammy Gyamfi to the NDC grassroots, the youth of Ghana, and the entire nation.
2. A prompt investigation and disciplinary action from party and government leadership against Mr. Gyamfi for this disgraceful misconduct.
3. A clear message from the NDC government that such betrayal and wasteful behavior will never be tolerated again.
The youth will not sit down and watch a few privileged individuals mock our sacrifices and misuse the power we fought so hard to win. We will rise. We will speak. And we will demand accountability—even if it means challenging those in our own house.
The NDC is a party of justice and integrity. Let us not lose our soul because of a few reckless individuals.
Ghanaians should rise. We must not allow this impunity to go unchallenged.
Signed,
Solomon Kofi Baffoe
