Prominent members and grassroots supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ablekuma Central constituency have thrown their support behind former Constituency Chairman, Kplorm Kofi Dordunu, for the position of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Ablekuma Central Municipality.

In an appeal to the vetting committee and President John Dramani Mahama, they emphasised the former chairman’s contributions to the development of the municipality and the party, urging for his appointment as MCE to advance the constituency’s progress.

This endorsement was echoed during interviews with key stakeholders and grassroots members, who emphasised Dordunu’s dedication to party activities, his unifying leadership, and his role in revitalising the constituency ahead of the crucial 2024 Election.

On various social media platforms, particularly NDC-affiliated WhatsApp groups, constituents praised Kplorm Dordunu for his hard work and innovative leadership.

They highlighted his efforts in addressing years of division within the constituency and implementing strategies that strengthened party structures.

Notably, in 2020, Dordunu spearheaded the creation of a comprehensive data system to identify party members and track election results, effectively preventing electoral manipulation.

These measures, they said, played a key role in the NDC’s parliamentary victory in Ablekuma Central that year.

“We, the grassroots of Ablekuma Central NDC, humbly appeal to His Excellency, President John Dramani Mahama, to consider Hon. Kplorm Kofi Dordunu for the position of Municipal Chief Executive. His visionary leadership will transform the Ablekuma Central Municipal Assembly,” they pleaded.

They further outlined Dordunu’s contributions during the last general elections, including donating mini billboards, branding a campaign vehicle with the MP and John Mahama’s images, and providing a modern sound system.

Additionally, he financed several grassroots activities and actively participated in campaign efforts, which resulted in significant victories for the NDC.

The supporters believe that Dordunu’s appointment as MCE would lead to the implementation of developmental plans, efficient governance, and representation of the community’s interests.

They lauded his global exposure and vision for transforming the assembly into a world-class municipality, capable of delivering exceptional socio-economic services.

The former chairman is also reported to have drafted a comprehensive manifesto for the municipality, focusing on initiatives such as increasing internally generated funds, improving sanitation, enhancing revenue control, and promoting youth employment.

“Hon. Dordunu’s innovative ideas and commitment to community development make him the ideal candidate to lead the Ablekuma Central Municipal Assembly into a brighter future,” they concluded.
