Ebi Bright is the new Mayor of Tema
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Executives of Tema East have congratulated Madam Ebi Bright on her nomination as the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly, describing the appointment as a recognition of her unwavering commitment to party work and public service.
Her nomination, announced on April 23, 2025, in a letter jointly signed by Dr. Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President, and the Minister for Local Government, Ahmed Ibrahim, is in line with Article 243 of the 1992 Constitution and the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936).
In an official statement issued by the constituency executives and sanctioned by the Constituency Chairman, Kempes Ofosuware, the party leadership expressed deep appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for the confidence reposed in Madam Bright.
“This achievement reflects your strong commitment and the hard work you have consistently demonstrated in public service,” the statement read.
Chairman Ofosuware, who reportedly called Bright to personally congratulate her, reaffirmed his “unflinching support” for her administration.
“We are confident that Ebi Bright’s leadership, vision, and passion will drive the development agenda of Tema in line with the President’s vision,” he said.
The statement also addressed internal discontent within the party, following concerns raised by some members over the nomination.
“We want to take this opportunity to call for calm among party members and remind everyone to exercise some restraint,” Seidu Abdulai, Secretary of the Constituency said.
“There is no victor or loser. This is a win for Tema and the NDC,” it added.
The executives urged party members to rally behind Ebi Bright as she assumes her new role, emphasising the need for unity to ensure successful governance in the municipality.
Ebi Bright is expected to bring her extensive experience in both public and political life to the role, as the Tema Metropolitan Assembly tackles key developmental challenges and seeks to enhance service delivery in the region.
