The national secretariat of the 24-Hour economy has revealed that there are eight strategic priority areas that will anchor the policy ahead of the official launch of the flagship initiative on Wednesday.
Many Ghanaians interpreted the 24-Hour Economy policy simply as working multiple shifts. But the latest media briefing has uncovered that the policy goes beyond mere shifts. The secretariat says the eight strategic priority projects paint a rather bigger and visionary picture.
Abdul Nasser, a rep at the secretariat, says it is a deliberate, interconnected architecture designed to industrialize Ghana, create jobs, promote local production, and elevate the country’s global competitiveness.
At the heart of this transformation lies a set of anchors: GROW24, BUILD24, CONNECT24, ASPIRE24, FUND24, MAKE24, SHOW24, and GO24, each one addressing a critical need in the economic value chain and national development agenda.
GROW24
The journey begins with the land. GROW24 targets agricultural revitalization, from the Eden Volta Breadbasket Project to urban vegetable farming, cooperative development, and agroecological parks. With emphasis on strategic value chains like vegetables, grains, oil seeds, and poultry, the initiative tackles food security, rural poverty, and import dependency head-on.
It also focuses on post-harvest infrastructure and housing for agricultural workers, ensuring not just productivity but dignity for those who feed the nation.
BUILD24
Under BUILD24, Ghana’s infrastructure sector gets a long-overdue upgrade. From green building pilot projects to the revitalization of local construction materials, this anchor empowers local industry, reduces the cost of building, and strengthens resilience.
The creation of a Construction Industry Development Authority (CIDA) and demonstration projects will stimulate local demand, provide jobs, and showcase innovation in sustainable housing and public infrastructure.
CONNECT24
The policy believes that no economy thrives in isolation. CONNECT24 ensures that production meets markets through investments in cold chain logistics, air cargo terminals, and Volta Lake transport enterprises. These logistical networks are vital for perishable goods, agro-processing, exports, and regional integration.
This is anticipated to result in a Ghana that moves, both literally and economically.
ASPIRE24
Economic transformation demands a skilled, ready, and adaptive workforce. ASPIRE24 delivers on that through digital literacy centres, TVET mainstreaming, and multilingual and silver workforce development.
Whether it’s coding in Cape Coast or content creation in Kumasi, young and old alike are being empowered to meet the demands of the modern economy. This is how Ghana becomes not just a hub of resources, but of talent.
FUND24
Even the best ideas die without financing. FUND24 is expected to solve that through a national SME lending platform and value chain financing project.
With a robust, digitized interface that connects businesses to capital, Ghanaian entrepreneurs will no longer struggle in silence. Whether it’s a cassava processor in Hohoe or a garment maker in Afienya, funding will follow productivity.
MAKE24
MAKE24 breathes life into Ghana’s industrial vision with textile and garment parks, pharmaceutical innovation hubs, and herbal medicine projects. This is about making Made-in-Ghana truly matter. It includes agric and processing machinery manufacturing, turning Ghana into a producer of what it used to import.
From Wumbei 1 to Wumbei 9, a new industrial belt is being laid out, from Ho to Kumasi, Koforidua to Afienya.
SHOW24
SHOW24 brings a cultural and creative lens to the economy. With initiatives like the National Creators Academy, Cultural Passport, Kokompe Innovation Museum, and Buy Made in Ghana project, this pillar ensures that economic development reflects who we are.
It turns heritage, tourism, and creative arts into economic powerhouses—industries that employ, inspire, and export Ghana’s identity.
GO24
GO24 represents the human side of the revolution through the National Mindset and Productivity Campaign and Community Revitalisation Programmes. It acknowledges that no policy succeeds unless citizens believe in it, live it, and drive it.
It’s about changing how Ghanaians think about time, value, work, and nationhood. It’s where productivity meets patriotism.
The Bottomline
The secretariat believes that, individually, each anchor addresses a critical challenge. Together, they form a national development solution that is ambitious, inclusive, and transformational. The 24-Hour Economy, through these strategic priorities, is Ghana’s clearest shot at economic sovereignty, where productivity, innovation, and shared prosperity are not dreams, but the new national rhythm.
