
A fatal accident at Nyinahin in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region claimed the lives of two teenagers on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
The collision occurred between a tricycle, popularly known as Aboboyaa, with registration number M25 AW 3135, and a vehicle bearing registration number AW 3848-21. The crash reportedly happened around 6:00 p.m. on the main road from Bibiani in the Western North Region.
According to eyewitness accounts, the tricycle suffered a brake failure, veered off its path, and collided head-on with the oncoming vehicle.
The deceased victims, identified only as Wahabu, 17, and C.O., 16—a recent Junior High School graduate—died on the spot due to the severity of the impact.
Two other individuals sustained injuries and were quickly transported to the Nyinahin Government Hospital for treatment.
The tragic incident has thrown the Nyinahin community into mourning and renewed calls for heightened road safety awareness.
Residents and road safety advocates are urging drivers and tricycle operators to conduct routine maintenance and adhere strictly to traffic regulations to prevent similar disasters.
Authorities have since launched an investigation into the incident.
