What is the connection between Gertrude Araba Torkornoo and Jean Adukwei Mensa? Does the same necklace they are both wearing represent the membership of a dark society?
Jean Adukwei Mensa, the head of the Electoral Commission, and Gertrude Araba Torkornoo, a suspended Chief Justice at Ghana’s Supreme Court, are respectively holding two powerful positions that are thought to be among the most important pillars supporting any prosperous country. However, as members of the New Patriotic Party, the government currently in the opposition, the two women’s dishonest personalities, from calculating and crafty to vicious and heartless, destroyed the country.
Appointing persons to the highest positions can’t conceal their criminal character if what they put on can’t make them ladies and gentlemen. As I have stated previously, a corporation that employs a pimp as its managing director can’t change the individual’s character or personality. To undermine that institution, the individual will consistently display the signs of his pimping occupation. Therefore, I believe that both Gertrude and Jean Mensa committed crimes to hide their dishonest lives.
According to Jean Mensa’s biography, she attended the University of Ghana’s Faculty of Law and graduated in 1993, and in 1996, she was then called to the bar, while Gertrude Torkornoo, who had practiced law for eighteen years, was asked to join the judiciary in 2004 as a Justice of the High Court of Ghana. She was then elevated to the Court of Appeal in October 2012, and in 2019, she was named the Supreme Court’s chief justice. Did the two ladies study to be criminals while doing law?
Jean Mensa was appointed head of the Electoral Commission by former Ghanaian President Akufo-Addo after Charlotte Osei was forcibly removed from office over false accusations. Even though the office of the Electoral Commission should be an independent institution by law to supervise elections and control electoral activity, the fact that Jean Mensa is a prominent member of the ruling government’s New Patriotic Party ignored her solemn oath with the Bible to work in favor of her party, the NPP.
In addition to Jean Mensa, her husband is also an NPP member. During John Kufuor’s government, Charles Mensa, the founder of the Institute of Economic Affairs, was the CEO of the Volta Aluminum Company, or VALCO. Akufo-Addo’s deliberate appointments to torment Ghanaians for the benefit of his political party, the NPP, are confirmed by the head of the Electoral Commission. Every action Mensa took at the EC’s offices for her party was followed by criminal activity that ruined the country.
Jean Mensa’s lack of integrity, recklessness, and electoral malpractices resulted in election violence. On December 9, 2020, the Ghana Police Service registered 21 electoral incidents, one of which claimed the lives of Ghanaians. As a sensible being in a position that has caused political unrest leading to the death of individuals, that should have been a warning to her. However, since Jean Mensa does what pleases her and does it for Akufo-Addo, she never turns over a new leaf to desist from electoral crimes.
Although such news is extremely uncommon in both the developed and developing worlds, four individuals, including three employees of Ghana’s Electoral Commission, were placed under custody for allegedly stealing laptops and biometric verification devices that belonged to the commission. Instead of resigning as required by law in response to this major crime and the public outcry, Jean Mensa told Ghanaians that “the missing computers won’t affect the integrity of the elections.”
Jean Mensa consistently violated the Constitution and stubbornly refused to carry out her duties in a way that the law required, in addition to abusing her position of power. She manipulated the election results by printing fake ballots and pink sheets with impunity. The crimes that Jean Mensa has committed and continues to commit while serving as the head of the EC have horrified Ghanaians. Surprisingly, six months after the new government took office, there are still constituencies that have no representatives in the parliament.
As a writer, I am aware of how Jean Mensa’s immoralities are endangering Ghana’s democracy and having an impact on the populace. However, the people in high positions in the NPP government, who are meant to maintain order and safeguard Ghana’s democracy, have encouraged and supported Mensa’s and Gertrude Torkornoo’s criminal activities because they served the party’s interests. As the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Gertrude Torkornoo performed the worst, just like Jean Mensa.
Ghanaians were suffocated and subjected to psychological torture by Gertrude Araba Torkornoo, a full-fledged NPP politician who used the Supreme Court’s high seat to conceal her illegal activities, biased rulings, and personal preferences in choosing cases that would favor her political party and her appointee, Akufo-Addo. Torkornoo, who believed Mahama would never be able to regain power, exploited her position and repeatedly broke the Constitution in order to split the country and destabilize Ghana’s democratic system.
The fairness of the legal processes between the opposition, the NDC, and her ruling party, the NPP, in Ghana was jeopardized by Gertrude Torkornoo’s judicial neutrality and bias. For the sake of her political party, Torkornoo disregarded her obligation to remain sincere, which is crucial for preserving faith in court rulings and the Ghanaians. The woman went as far as interfering in Parliament House affairs, undermining public trust in the legal system, and influencing case outcomes.
In any serious country with a functional legal system, Jean Mensa and Gertrude Torkornoo should not be allowed to serve in government if the law has failed to prosecute and jail them. Therefore, I’m not sure why Jean Mensa is still in the office of the Electoral Commission, while Gertrude Torkornoo is fiercely fighting against her suspension to remain in office. If President Mahama wants to run a successful government and be recognized as a respectful leader, he should fire Jean Mensa and Gertrude Torkornoo immediately.
Throughout their lives, the two women, Gertrude Torkornoo and Jean Mensa, have posed a serious threat to Ghanaians and democracy. They were able to obtain high positions because Akufo-Addo, another corrupt and deceitful politician, covered up their criminal deeds. However, since darkness and light have nothing in common, their criminal activities have come to light.
