Former First Lady of Ghana, Mrs. Lordina Mahama, has reiterated her unwavering dedication to empowering women and supporting vulnerable groups across the country.
In a heartfelt statement shared with the Ghana News Agency to mark Mother’s Day, Mrs. Mahama emphasized the central role of women in building strong families and nurturing communities.
Through the continued work of the Lordina Foundation, she pledged to intensify efforts in providing skills training, economic support, and advocacy for the rights of women, children, and persons living with HIV/AIDS.
A key priority, she noted, remains the improvement of healthcare infrastructure for mothers and children. The Foundation aims to support hospitals across Ghana by furnishing modern maternity and children’s wards to ensure safe and quality healthcare delivery.
“Ensuring that mothers receive the best possible care during pregnancy and childbirth and that our children have access to quality health services is a cause very close to my heart, and I will continue to champion it,” she said.
Addressing mothers across the nation, Mrs. Mahama extended her appreciation for their daily sacrifices and enduring strength.
“My dear mothers and remarkable women of Ghana, on this beautiful occasion of Mother’s Day, my heart is filled with profound gratitude and admiration for each of you,” Mrs. Mahama said. “Today is an opportunity to pause and honour the incredible strength, unwavering love, and countless sacrifices that mothers make daily. We are the pillars of our homes and the heartbeat of our nation. Mothers nurture the future.”
She highlighted the vital contributions of mothers in shaping compassionate and resilient societies.
She added, “Their nurturing hands, wise counsel, and unconditional assistance foster strong families and communities, laying the groundwork for a compassionate society.”
Mrs. Mahama concluded her message with a reminder that every act of love and sacrifice by mothers is recognized and cherished.
“Today, as we celebrate mothers, know that your sacrifices, strength, and love are seen, valued, and deeply appreciated by your families, communities, and nation.”
