The Ministry of Transport and World Aviation Group (WAG) held an important meeting to discussing a new national airline for Ghana.
Sector Minister, Mr Joseph Bukari Nikpe met with WAG representatives to explore a potential partnership aimed at establishing a sustainable and profitable national carrier.
The Minister stated that the initiative seeks to improve Ghana’s aviation sector and increase connectivity.
“A strong national airline supports Ghana’s economic growth and regional connectivity. We are looking for a partner that can deliver a sustainable and efficient model that works for all Ghanaians,” he added.
WAG shared their proposal, detailing their experience in airline creation, management, and operations. Their plan includes investing in modern aircraft, building an effective route network, and following safety and customer service best practices.
The company also plans to conduct market demand studies, develop a detailed business plan with financial forecasts, form partnerships with international airlines, and implement a hub-and-spoke system to improve connections within Ghana and West Africa.
The proposed national airline is expected to create employment opportunities, support tourism, and strengthen regional air travel options.
