A tragic head-on collision on the Juaso-Nkawkaw stretch of the Accra-Kumasi highway has claimed two lives and left several others injured.

The accident, according to a report by myjoyonline.com, occurred on Friday and involved two trailer trucks.

One of the trucks , registered as 11 JN 2972, was traveling from Accra to Burkina Faso, while the other, with registration GT 8212-10, was en route from Kumasi to Accra.

Eyewitness Atta Pascaa, speaking to Adom News, reported that the collision resulted in the immediate deaths of the driver and mate of the Kumasi-bound trailer.

The driver and mate of the Burkina Faso-bound truck sustained injuries and were promptly transported to Juaso Government Hospital for treatment. The bodies of the deceased were taken to the Yawkwei morgue.

Emergency response teams, including the Juaso Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD), Ambulance Service, and Ghana National Fire Service from Ejisu and Juaso, swiftly arrived at the scene to manage the situation.

In a related incident nearby, another trailer, registered as 2389 D 03, reportedly experienced brake failure, leading to an additional crash.

Meanwhile, authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the cause of the accidents.
