Navrongo: Two found dead at Tono Riverbank after motorbike accident

Two individuals were discovered dead at the Tono riverbank in the Kasena-Nankana Municipality of the Upper East Region after an apparent motorbike accident.

Reports indicate that the victims were traveling from Navrongo towards Chaina on Thursday night, February 20, when they lost control of their motorbike and veered into the dam. Their bodies were found the following morning by irrigation farmers who had arrived to tend to their crops.

Authorities were alerted, and the police arrived to retrieve the bodies, which were subsequently transported to the Navrongo Hospital. The deceased have been identified as residents of Chaina in the Chaina-Paga District, who had visited Navrongo and were on their way back home.

The area around the riverbank had previously been reinforced with barricades to prevent accidents, as its deteriorating state posed a danger to travelers. However, despite these safety measures, some riders continue to bypass the barriers, increasing the risk of such tragic incidents.
