A 43-year-old drug addict, Kwame Abbam, has reportedly hacked a 45-year-old man, Jojo, with a machete in Kwame Nkyi, a farming community in the Adanse South District of the Ashanti Region.

According to residents, the attack was unprovoked and occurred after Abbam reportedly consumed suspected Indian hemp.

The gruesome attack, which took place on Monday, July 28, 2025, left Jojo with severe injuries to his neck and hands.

He has been rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for treatment.

However, in a shocking turn of events, Abbam is currently battling for his life at New Edubiase Hospital after being attacked by some angry youth in the community.

The mob, reportedly fed up with Abbam’s behaviour, launched a reprisal attack, leaving him in critical condition.

Residents in an interview with OTEC News Reporter Esther Ackom said police have taken over the case and are working to ensure justice is served.

The incident has highlighted concerns about substance abuse and violence in the area, with authorities likely to face pressure to take measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
