UDS student has called on government to extend electricity grid to Naama areas
A student from the University of Development Studies (UDS) in Tamale expressed shock at the lack of access to electricity at Naama, a community in the Offinso Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
According to a post on X by SikaOfficial on July 25, 2025, the student of the University of Development Studies (UDS) in Tamale did not expect that the town in the Ashanti Region would face a challenge he considers fundamental.
“University of Development Studies (UDS) Tamale student embarking on the annual Third Trimester Field Practical Program (TTFPP) expresses her shock after discovering that Naama, a community in the Offinso Municipality of the Ashanti Region, has no access to electricity,” the post read.
“Some communities in the Offinso Municipality, specifically Naama, do not have electricity. Even the solar panels in the area are non-functional. We, the members of group 148, appeal to the government to extend the electricity grid to this community,” the student stated.
She subsequently made an urgent plea to the government to extend the electricity grid to the area.
The student’s experience emphasises the stark disparities in infrastructure in cities and remote areas throughout Ghana.
In response to her findings, she has called on the government to prioritise the extension of the electricity grid to Naama.
