The University of Gold Coast is proud to announce the appointment of Professor Pikay Richardson as the Chair of its University Council.

Prof. Richardson, an internationally acclaimed academic and thought leader in business, leadership, and governance, brings to the position decades of distinguished service in academia and strategic development across various sectors.

The Council, the highest decision-making body of the University, will benefit immensely from Prof. Richardson’s visionary leadership, strategic insights, and commitment to excellence. His appointment comes at a pivotal moment as the University of Gold Coast, following its recent attainment of a Presidential Charter, continues its mission of delivering transformative education and shaping leaders for Africa and the world.

Prof. Richardson holds an extensive track record, having served in prestigious academic positions globally, including at the Manchester Business School, where for two decades he played a key role in teaching MBA and PhD students, as well as executive leadership training and strategic consultancy.

His expertise spans business and industrial economics, strategic management, governance, public policy, marketing, leadership, and organizational development. He bridges the gap between academia and industry by chairing the board of a UK engineering company, as well as sitting on a board of a real estate company in Ghana, making him uniquely suited to guide the university’s ambitious growth trajectory.

Speaking on his appointment, Prof. Richardson expressed his enthusiasm, stating: it is a great honour and pleasure to be invited to chair the Governing Council of the University. I hope to bring my experience of working in universities in both developed countries, such as the UK, the US and Singapore, and developing countries such as India, Botswana, Nigeria, and Ghana, and my teaching in over two dozen countries around the world, to the University. I am also privileged to run a Council composed of a batch of the most talented members with diverse backgrounds and experiences. I look forward to what promises to be a great time ahead.

Dr. Gideon Titi-Ofei, the University’s Founder and Chancellor, praised the appointment, saying:

“Prof. Pikay Richardson’s wealth of knowledge and leadership will steer our Council as we navigate this next chapter. His guidance will help the University maintain high academic standards while expanding its impact across Africa and beyond.”

The University of Gold Coast is committed to fostering intellectual growth, research excellence, and leadership development.

The appointment of Prof. Richardson reinforces its goal of becoming a hub for innovative education and a partner for African development in the areas of governance, law, diplomacy, and business.
