The Minister for Health. Mr Mintah Akandoh has said the government has implemented strategic measures to sustain and improve healthcare delivery in the country.

He said this when the United States Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia E. Palmer, visited him at his office in Accra.

He indicated Ghana’s ongoing efforts to improve healthcare delivery, including plans to expand maternal and child health services, strengthen the fight against infectious disease and enhance emergency medical response systems.

Mr Akandoh acknowledged the significant contribution of U.S support to Ghana’s health sector over the years, particularly in areas such as malaria prevention, maternal healthcare and HIV/AIDS programmes.

The Minister reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to building a resilient and efficient healthcare system in the country.

On her part, the United States Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia E. Palmer, congratulated the Minister on his appointment and encouraged him to strengthen the country’s health sector.

She assured that despite the withdrawal of USAID funding, Ghana’s healthcare system would not face immediate setbacks, as alternative interventions were implemented to mitigate any potential challenges.

The meeting focused on discussions surrounding the withdrawal of USAID funding and other critical issues related to enhancing healthcare delivery in Ghana.
