Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang is the Vice President of Ghana
Ghana’s Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has extended a heartfelt message of appreciation to workers across the country in celebration of May Day, commending their resilience and contributions to national development.
In a statement shared on X on Thursday, May 1, 2025, the Vice President paid tribute to the diverse sectors of the Ghanaian workforce, ranging from farmers and teachers to healthcare professionals and public servants, highlighting their essential role in shaping the country’s future.
“I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the hardworking men and women across our country whose dedication keeps our nation moving forward. Your work matters. Your voice matters. And our future matters,” the post read.
She also called for a collective push toward inclusive progress, urging all to “advance the cause of labour, uphold the rights of workers, and strive for progress that leaves no one behind.”
This message comes at a time when Professor Opoku-Agyemang is on medical leave, which began on April 7, 2025.
Following health concerns that required specialised care abroad, she has been receiving treatment and is said to be recovering well.
Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa recently provided a public update, assuring Ghanaians that the Vice President is in good spirits and will resume official duties soon.
