Vitality Health International and Acacia Health Insurance Ghana have officially launched a strategic partnership aimed at revolutionising health insurance delivery in Ghana through a shared-value model that integrates wellness, innovation, and preventive care.

Themed “Transforming Health in Africa: The Power of Shared-Value Insurance”, the Ghana Broker Roundtable 2025 took place at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel on Thursday, July 10.

The event brought together key players from the insurance, health, and diplomatic sectors to mark a milestone in Ghana’s evolving healthcare landscape.

Welcoming the gathering, the CEO of Enterprise Group, Daniel Larbi Tieku, hailed the partnership as a critical step toward reshaping insurance and wellness delivery in Ghana.

“This partnership brings to our shores a unique proposition, one that goes beyond traditional health insurance. Through Vitality’s proven model, we are introducing a wellness-based insurance solution that rewards healthy living, encourages positive lifestyle choices, and empowers members to take charge of their own well-being,” he said.

He stated that the partnership fits within Enterprise’s broader vision to provide integrated financial services and create a holistic well-being ecosystem for Ghanaians.

The Acting High Commissioner of the South African High Commission, Thando Dalamba

The Acting High Commissioner of the South African High Commission, Thando Dalamba, praised the partnership for promoting inter-African cooperation in healthcare access and delivery.

“Health is not merely a human necessity, but a critical driver of economic and social progress… This launch reflects a shared vision of our two nations to build resilient systems, improve access to quality healthcare, and drive sustainable development,” he said.

Mr Dalamba noted that since the reciprocal visa waiver between Ghana and South Africa took effect in November 2023, Ghanaian arrivals to South Africa, especially for medical and business purposes, have surged by 149%, underscoring growing health-related cooperation between the two countries.

Managing Director of Acacia Health Insurance, Dr. Dan Armooh

Managing Director of Acacia Health Insurance, Dr. Dan Armooh, said the partnership fulfills a long-standing need to provide comprehensive cross-border health coverage for corporate clients.

“We hear you, we understand your needs… The cover we offer is local, and there are huge gaps when our clients travel abroad. Vitality fills that gap with expertise, global reach, and the capacity to provide continuity of care,” he said.

Dr. Armooh expressed confidence that the collaboration would improve patient outcomes and offer clients a broader network of health solutions within and beyond Ghana.

Deputy Director of the Private Health Insurance Services Directorate at the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr. Andy Mprah

The Deputy Director of the Private Health Insurance Services Directorate at the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr. Andy Mprah, welcomed the initiative and reaffirmed NHIA’s regulatory support.

“We see today not only as a celebration of partnership but also a strategic moment to align innovation with regulation… Private health insurance fills service gaps and enhances access to care,” he noted.

Dr. Mprah stated that NHIA is committed to building an enabling environment that encourages responsible innovation while ensuring financial sustainability and consumer protection.

CEO of Vitality Health International, Emma Knox, described the partnership as the result of shared vision, digital readiness, and alignment in values.

“We pride ourselves on being experts in insurance and behavioural change, but we are not experts in Ghana. That’s why we needed the right partner, and we found that in Acacia and Enterprise,” she said.

She stated that Vitality’s global experience in behaviour-led wellness programs will enhance healthcare delivery in Ghana, improve outcomes, and help shape a more resilient insurance market.

The launch signals a new direction in Ghana’s private health insurance sector—one where wellness, data, digital tools, and international expertise converge to meet the evolving demands of clients.

As Africa’s health financing landscape continues to transform, the partnership between Vitality and Acacia could become a model for future collaborations, putting the continent on a path toward more inclusive, proactive, and sustainable healthcare systems.
