Theophilus Kwadzo Doh, the 2nd Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Afadzato South Constituency of the Volta Region, has officially severed ties with Team Ken, the campaign group that supported Kennedy Ohene Agyapong in the NPP’s 2023 presidential primaries.
Mr. Doh, who also served as a Volta Regional Communicator and the Constituency Coordinator for Team Ken, announced his decision in a formal notice of disassociation.
In his statement, he expressed appreciation to the team for the opportunity to serve and collaborate with them during the presidential primaries. He cited personal reasons as the basis for his resignation, despite what he described as his unwavering dedication, loyalty, and commitment to the team’s objectives.
“I am grateful for the experience and the opportunity to work with Team Ken. I wish the team success in their future endeavors,” he stated.
In addition to his party roles, Mr. Doh is currently the elected Assembly Member for the Nyagbo Sroe Electoral Area under the Afadzato South District Assembly. His exit is considered a significant loss to Team Ken, given his influential role in mobilizing grassroots support in the Volta Region.
While Mr. Doh did not disclose the exact reasons behind his decision, he hinted that his next political move would be made public soon. His departure has already triggered speculation, with observers eager to see whether he might throw his support behind another aspirant in the upcoming NPP flagbearer race.
His resignation adds to recent shifts within the party’s Volta regional base. Several grassroots members have declared support for former Agriculture Minister Hon. Bryan Acheampong ahead of the NPP’s flagbearership contest scheduled for January 31, 2026.
As the political landscape within the party continues to shift, the exit of Theophilus Doh from Team Ken is likely to have ripple effects on campaign dynamics, especially in a region where unity and strategic mobilization remain key to electoral performance.
