Walewale: 2 jailed five years each for stealing Immigration officer’s firearms

Two individuals who stole a pistol and ammunition belonging to an immigration officer in Walewale have been sentenced to five years’ imprisonment each with hard labour.

The convicts, Mustapha Basit, 18, and Baba Rashid, 22, pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to steal and stealing before Justice Francis Asobayeri at the Walewale Circuit Court on Thursday, May 22.

According to the police, preparations are underway to transfer the two to begin their prison terms.

The incident occurred on May 17 at 12:00 p.m., when the convicts broke into the immigration officer’s room while he was away.

They made away with a Smith & Wesson pistol loaded with ten rounds of ammunition, along with two CZ rifle magazines, each loaded with 30 rounds.
