Some first-year tertiary students jubilating after receiving funds under the ‘No Fees Stress’ policy
Some first-year tertiary students across the country have been captured in viral videos jubilating after receiving funds under the No Fees Stress policy, a key initiative by the John Dramani Mahama-led administration.
In a video widely shared on social media on Thursday, July 3, 2025, a group of female students is seen dancing and shouting with excitement upon confirming receipt of their disbursements.
The caption accompanying the video read:”First-year tertiary students across the country jubilate as they receive their ‘No Fees Stress’ disbursements, as promised by the President Mahama-led administration.”
The Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, confirmed on his official X page that nearly 15,000 students enrolled in public tertiary institutions have already received financial support under the programme.
“About 15,000 students have received disbursements under the policy. The remaining students will receive payments shortly after verification. President Mahama will officially launch the policy tomorrow in Koforidua,” he posted on Thursday, July 3, 2025.
The ‘No Fees Stress’ policy was a flagship promise made by President John Dramani Mahama during the 2024 election campaign.
It is aimed at easing the financial burden of tertiary education and improving access for students from diverse backgrounds.
The policy is expected to benefit tens of thousands of students in its initial phase, with plans for further expansion.
President Mahama is set to officially launch the policy on Friday, July 4, 2025, in Koforidua.
