A violent clash erupted between students from St Thomas Aquinas Senior High School and Accra Academy at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, causing a surge of outrage on social media and calls for disciplinary reform in senior high schools.

The incident, which took place during the Greater Accra Regional Inter-School Games, has drawn widespread attention, with many netizens demanding immediate action from school authorities.

This altercation is the latest in a long-standing rivalry between the two schools and was widely recorded and shared online.

Videos of the conflict quickly went viral, raising concerns about student safety and the need for stricter disciplinary measures.

A post from EDHUB on X, dated July 10, 2025, stated, “Netizens call on school authorities for immediate disciplinary reform in senior high schools, after students of the St Thomas Aquinas Senior High School and Accra Academy were sighted in a heated clash at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.”

The post continued, “The incident follows longstanding rivalry and recurring student clashes during the Greater Accra Regional Inter-school Games.”

This violent clash is not an isolated incident. Previous inter-school games have also been marred by similar conflicts, indicating a pressing issue that requires intervention.

In response, netizens are urging school authorities to implement comprehensive disciplinary reforms.

They suggest measures such as stricter enforcement of school rules, counseling programs, and conflict resolution workshops.

Many believe that addressing the root causes of these conflicts, such as intense school rivalries and inadequate supervision, is essential for preventing future incidents.
