The family of Stephen Ntim, National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has formally requested that he be temporarily excused from his official duties due to health concerns.
According to the family, Mr. Ntim has not been well and is currently undergoing medical care, which requires him to take a break from active politics.
In a letter dated June 16 and addressed to the party, the Ntim Family of Wamfie and Nsuta said the request follows a family meeting on the same day, after learning that Mr. Ntim was expected to chair a National Council meeting scheduled for June 17.
“In compliance with his professional medical advice and in cognizance of his demanding office, we the family members do hereby request that Mr. Ntim be temporarily excused, not only from active office duty, but also from outright party politics until further notice,” the letter stated.
The family added, “At this juncture, we… have learned that the party has convened a meeting scheduled to be chaired by Mr. Ntim and we would like our beloved son, brother, nephew and relative… to be excused from attendance of this event, due to recent developments on his health and well-being beginning from today, June 16, 2025.”
They expressed confidence in the party’s leadership to act in the best interest of Mr. Ntim.
“We… trust the NPP party hierarchy and stakeholders to accordingly do the right thing and excuse Mr. Ntim from being a part of the impending meeting and in events of the near future, while his future plans, decisions and considerations are under review and consultation.”
This development comes weeks after Mr. Ntim took a break from the party’s post-election thank-you tour, which he was leading alongside the 2024 flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
