We won’t tolerate any agenda to blame Bawumia alone for NPP’s 2024 defeat — Kofi Ofosu Nkansah

Former Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, has rejected attempts to blame Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the 2024 New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, solely for the party’s defeat.

According to him, the cause of the defeat, which is yet to be determined through the party’s internal review committee, cannot be attributed to a single individual.

In a social media post on Wednesday, February 5, the former NEIP boss emphasized that anyone who played a role in the past government contributed, directly or indirectly, to the party’s loss.

“Some of us will not tolerate any agenda to push the blame for our 2024 defeat onto the candidature of Dr. Bawumia.

“The election was a referendum on our eight years in power, and some of our people decided not to vote for various reasons. From the President, Vice President, Ministers, Board Chairs, CEOs, Appointees, and all those who had direct or indirect power or influence during the eight years, we all may have done something that contributed to the defeat,” he wrote.

This response follows comments by some NPP supporters in the Ashanti Region, who said Dr. Bawumia’s candidature was a mistake and called for a fresh candidate for the 2028 elections.

In what appears to be a direct reaction to the blame, Mr. Ofosu Nkansah wrote, “We won’t sit down for those with ambitions of leading the party to use Dr. Bawumia as a scapegoat because of their personal interests.

“We will resist any false narrative seeking to push the blame on Dr. Bawumia. Let us all respect ourselves and wait for the party to conduct a full investigation into the cause of the defeat, rather than rushing to blame one person.”
