We’re happy you’re resetting to play constructive criticism to help President Mahama rebuild Ghana – NDC to NPP

The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has welcomed the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) internal restructuring efforts, describing it as a much-needed political reset that aligns with the broader national agenda for unity and development.

Ludwig Hlodze, Director of Logistics and Protocol for the NDC, commended the NPP’s attempt to reassess its direction following its defeat in the 2024 general elections.

According to him, the move signals a positive shift toward responsible opposition and constructive engagement—an approach that dovetails with President John Dramani Mahama’s mission to rebuild the country.

Speaking at the NPP’s National Delegates Conference held at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Saturday, July 19, Hlodze emphasized that Ghana’s current political and economic climate demands renewal across the board.

“The country Ghana is going through a reset process. It is very important that we as political parties reset our ideas, policies, and programmes,” he said.

“That is why we are happy that the biggest opposition party in our country is doing exactly that—to reset and play their role with constructive criticism to support the nation builder, John Mahama, to rebuild the Ghana we all want.”

The NPP’s conference, themed “Rebuilding Together with Our Values,” is widely seen as an opportunity for the party to reflect on its governance shortcomings and reconfigure its internal structures in preparation for the 2028 elections.

Hlodze’s remarks signal a rare moment of bipartisan acknowledgment, underscoring the importance of healthy political competition and national cooperation during a period many believe is crucial for restoring public confidence in Ghana’s democracy.

Observers say the NDC’s gesture not only reflects maturity but also hints at a possible new tone of political discourse centered on collaboration over confrontation.
