The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to eliminating illegal mining, widely known as galamsey.

During an interview on The Point of View on Channel One TV, Buah stressed that authorities are treating the issue with the highest level of urgency.

“We are treating the matter as an emergency. We’re working around the clock, 24 hours a day. These matters must be dealt with all the urgency and emergency they deserve,” he stated.

He assured Ghanaians that the government is relentless in its efforts to address the crisis. “As Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, I can tell the people of Ghana that we are dealing with this matter with all the emergency measures, all the urgency, the seriousness, and that they can be assured that we will be relentless and we will win the fight,” he added.

Galamsey continues to pose a major challenge in Ghana, contributing to severe environmental damage and water pollution. In response, the government has ramped up its crackdown on illegal mining activities in recent years, deploying various strategies to curb the menace.
