While the exact supply chain is unclear, it is likely that these vendors source their products from unauthorized wholesalers or online suppliers. This lack of transparency and accountability raises significant concerns about the legitimacy and safety of the medications being sold. Who sells to them for them to sell to the public? Who qualifies to sell Viagra? These are questions that need to be answered.

They look so uncleaned, putting Viagra on a wheelbarrow together with tiger nuts, ginger, Gotu kola, and many more. Who does that? Is a wheelbarrow a pharmacy hub? Or is Viagra just like paracetamol, so anyone can sell? Maybe I need education. Maybe Viagra is just like coconut, so anyone can sell. But one thing is clear – this is a serious public health issue that needs attention.
The Future is Sick
If we don’t take action, the consequences will be dire. What if the Viagra being sold is expired or fake? The complications are real, and we need to act fast. As a doctor, I urge the relevant authorities to take action to protect the health and well-being of Ghanaians.

The sale of Viagra by Abochies in Ghana is a pressing public health concern that requires immediate attention. To address this issue, it is essential to strengthen regulatory oversight, improve public awareness, and ensure that medications are sold and distributed through authorized channels, collaboration with law enforcement, healthcare provider engagement, community outreach, policy review, and interagency collaboration.
