Why the NPP Must Let Kennedy Agyapong Lead — Or Wait 40 Years in Opposition

By all accounts, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is at a crossroads. After the bruising loss in the 2024 general elections, many expected the party to reflect, reform and reconnect with the people. Yet here we are—watching seasoned party executives back a candidate whose appeal does not reflect the urgent desire for change. In doing so, they risk ignoring the only voice within the party capable of restoring its integrity, energy and credibility: Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.

Let me be brief, but honest.
When Kennedy Agyapong first spoke out against corruption and internal arrogance, it wasn’t as a leader—he had no intention of vying for the presidency then. His words were driven by conscience, not ambition. He criticized what was broken when others remained silent. Now that the damage is undeniable and the people are disillusioned, it is only right that he steps up to lead the very change he called for.

To ignore this man is not just political miscalculation—it’s generational folly. Without him, NPP may remain in opposition for the next 40 years.

Here’s why Kennedy Agyapong is matchless within the NPP, and why disqualifying or undermining him would be a tragic error in judgment:

I Have My Intellectual Reasons Kennedy Agyapong Stands Best Choice.

Unfiltered Honesty: He speaks truth to power—even when it costs him politically. Self-Made Success: A proven entrepreneur who built his wealth without political privilege, giving him real-world economic insight. Independent Mind: Not a product of any political dynasty—he thinks for himself and challenges internal status quos. Champion of the Grassroots: He has consistently fought for ordinary party members and voters, pledging to make their voices count. Anti-Corruption Warrior: Unlike others, he confronts corruption head-on—with names, facts and consequences. Broad Electoral Appeal: His authenticity resonates with floating voters and the youth—demographics the NPP is struggling to retain. Visionary Reformist: He has warned, prophetically, that the NPP cannot win by repeating its past. Reform or collapse—that is the choice. Loyal in the Face of Marginalization: Despite being sidelined, he remained committed to the party’s cause. Voice for the Voiceless: Through his media platforms, he amplifies real issues—youth unemployment, injustice, and poor infrastructure. Unshakable Courage: Threats, smears, isolation—nothing has silenced him. His resolve is unbreakable. Unapologetically Bold: He calls out hypocrisy without fear, making many within the establishment uncomfortable—but respected. Disrupts the Comfort Zone: He resists the complacency that has plagued the party’s inner circle. Grassroots Magnetism: His rallies draw thousands, even in regions typically cold to the NPP. He energizes where others divide. Unmoved by Intimidation: He defies internal pressure and still commands respect. He is not afraid to stand alone. Master of Strategy: He knows how to mobilize support, influence narratives and get results—without waiting for party endorsement.

To the wise among NPP executives: enough is enough. Kennedy Agyapong didn’t ask to lead—but now that the party is broken, he is ready to fix it. That’s not opportunism, that’s patriotism.

If the NPP still rejects this window of opportunity, Ghanaians will remember. And the path back to power may not open for another generation.

God bless Kennedy Agyapong. God bless the New Patriotic Party. God bless Ghana.
