The Overlord of Dagbon has pledged his support for the Government of President John Dramani Mahama towards a successful nation building.

The Overlord of Dagbon made the commitment on Friday when called on President Mahama at the Presidency in Accra.

The Ya-Na in a speech read on his behalf by Naa Bapir Zangbaling-Naa Dr Jacob Yakubu Mahama said: “May your administration efforts yield abundant fruit and may Ghana’s prosperity and development be the lasting legacy of your leadership.”

“Once again, I offer you my support and collaboration to work together and to build a brighter future for our great nation,” he added.

The Ya-Na and his entourage of paramount chiefs were at the Presidency to congratulate President Mahama on his resounding victory in the December 7, 2024, general election.

He said as a traditional leader, this was what they always wish for their people and communities, to live in peace with their neighbors and grow in prosperity.

“Your leadership has already brought a breath of fresh air to our nation and has renewed hope and optimism in the good people of Ghana,” the Overlord of Dagbon said.

He said the President’s swift action taken to revitalize the nation’s economy and improve the lives of Ghanaians were truly commendable.

Ya-Na Abukari’s said the President’s commitment to getting the machinery of Government moving without delay had set a positive tone for his administration, and that they were gladdened by the promise of a brighter future that his leadership symbolizes.

“The people of Ghana have high expectations, and I’m pleased to see that your government is already working tirelessly to meet these expectations,” the Ya-Na said.

“Your dedication to the wealth of Ghanaians is evident in the policies and initiatives that have been rolled out, and I have no doubt that your leadership will bring about transformative change that will benefit our nation for generations to come.”

The Overlord of Dagbon said the drastic drop in the dollar exchange rate of the Cedi against major international currencies was a remarkable achievement that speaks volumes about President Mahama’s administrative commitment to prudent economic management.

He said President Mahama’s Government’s achievements within a short span were truly commendable, and several initiatives stand out as particularly noteworthy.

He reiterated that the lean cabinet the President had established was a shining example of his dedication to efficient governance.

The Ya-Na said by strengthening the cabinet and reducing the number of ministers and presidential staffers, President Mahama had demonstrated a commitment to eliminating redundancy, enhancing productivity, and ensuring that resources were located where they were needed most.

He said the goals would set a positive tone for President Mahama’s administration and, as well, his resolve to lead a government that was of the people, by the people, and for the people.

The Ya-Na said as a traditional leader, he was committed to working closely with the President to harness the collective energies of the nation’s young people, leveraging their rich cultural heritage and traditional wisdom to drive national development.

He said together with the traditional leaders in Ghana, they could build a brighter future for Ghana, where their citizens strive to enrich their food potential.

He said as a traditional leader, he also appreciated the President’s respect for the values of their great nation, particularly the spirit of Sankofa.

Also in attendance at the event was Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang
