
The Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, has appointed Habibu Muftawu, popularly known as Mufti Borejinkpr, as the coordinator in charge of scholarships for the Bii-Kunuto Educational Fund.
The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was announced in a formal letter from the Jakpa Palace dated April 3 and sighted by ModernGhana News.
The Yagbonwura cited Mr. Muftawu’s “dedication to education, integrity, and commitment to youth development” as key reasons for his selection.
The Bii-Kunuto Educational Fund, established under the current reign of the King, aims to open up new academic opportunities for promising but needy students from the Gonja Kingdom.
The scholarship initiative under the Fund plans to award up to 50 scholarships annually to students pursuing various fields of study.
In his letter, the King expressed confidence in Mr. Muftawu’s ability to manage the programme with “fairness, accountability, and transparency.”
“This is not about me. It’s about helping the region to grow, giving hope, and changing lives. I look forward to working with all stakeholders to ensure fairness, transparency, and maximum impact,” Mr. Muftawu said of his appointment.
