Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has come under fire from Lawyer Edudzi Kuzo Tamakloe, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), over his recent open letter to President John Dramani Mahama.
Bawumia, in a recent statement titled “Worrying Developments in Our Country: An Appeal to H.E. President John Mahama,” expressed alarm over the present administration’s politically motivated mass dismissals of public sector workers.
Edudzi Tamekloe questioned Bawumia’s approach in a social media post on Friday, February 21, suggesting that it could have been more suitable and effective to speak with President Mahama on a phone call.
“Good morning Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Vice President and former NPP flag bearer. I read through your statement addressed to your senior brother, President John Dramani Mahama. Maybe a phone call would have been more impactful but let me ask a question,” he wrote.
Edudzi questioned Bawumia’s moral right to make such an appeal, citing similar actions by the previous NPP government.
“You simply refused or neglected to show leadership,” Edudzi stated, accusing Bawumia of failing to intervene during mass revocations of appointments in 2017, which left many young Ghanaians jobless.
The NPA boss continued, “We all have the responsibility to young people of this country to design the future. Dr. Bawumia, you lost the opportunity in 2017 to show leadership.”
