Man dies in stagnant water
A young man believed to be in his early 30s has been found dead in stagnant water at Nzema Aiyinasi in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region.
The sad incident occurred on the morning of Saturday, April 26, 2025.
The Aiyinasi South Assembly Member, Justice Kojo Boah, also known as Justo, confirmed the news to our regional correspondent, Daniel Kaku, at Nzema Aiyinasi.
He stated, “On Saturday morning, I was at a clinic in Awiebo when I received a call that someone had drowned in stagnant water near the road. I quickly rushed to the scene, only to find the young man floating in the water.”
The Assembly Member said that the body of the deceased was retrieved from the water by police officers from the Nzema Aiyinasi Police Station, with his assistance.
According to some residents in the area, the deceased, who has been identified as Daniel, was energetic and had even participated in an Easter Game event on Monday at Eikwe before his death on Saturday morning.
The police later conveyed the body to a private morgue in the Jomoro Municipality for autopsy.
The police are yet to establish the cause of death.
Residents are in a state of shock and fear over the incident.
Family members of the deceased have since declined to speak to the media.
