Your claim of not receiving Appointments C’ttee report ‘unfounded’ – Ahiafor to Afenyo-Markin

Chairman of Appointments Committee in Parliament, Bernard Ahiafor has dismissed claims by Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin that he has not received any report on the vetting by the Committee.

Afenyo-Markin has on many occasions since the vetting started, claimed that he has not received any report on the vetting, accusing the Clerk of the Committee of being “partisan and unprofessional.”

But Bernard Ahiafor condemned Afenyo-Markin’s verbal attack against the Clerk of the Committee, noting that it is untrue the Minority Leader does not receive the draft report of the committee on the vetting.

“There is nothing that the clerk has done that has not been authorized. Your allegation that you are not seeing the draft report is unfounded because you and I will be sitting there then I will hand over your copy to you personally or the clerk will place it before you personally…he cannot pretend not to have a copy,” Ahiafor disclosed.

The First Deputy Speaker expressed displeasure at Afenyo-Markin’s words against the Clerk of the Committee and called on him to apologise to the Clerk, Gifty Jiagge Gobah.

“It’s uncalled for. He must render an apology to the clerk of the committee. The Clerk of the Committee deserves to be respected, she doesn’t deserve those words to be used against her because we instruct her
