The General Overseer of Open Arms Ministry, Apostle Nkansah Sarkodie, popularly known as St. Sarkodie, has attributed Chairman Wontumi’s plight to the actions he took during the NPP’s tenure.

A few days ago, officers from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) attempted to execute a search warrant at Wontumi’s Kumasi residence but were unsuccessful.

Speaking to journalists at his church auditorium on Monday, Apostle Sarkodie described Wontumi’s predicament as “reaping what he sowed.”

He has linked the current situation to the outspoken criticisms Wontumi made against prominent figures from the NDC, including President John Dramani Mahama and Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.

Addressing Wontumi’s call for support from the NPP following the failed operation, the controversial cleric labelled it as “childish and immaterial.”

He stated, “I’m very sorry for you, Wontumi. Your cup is full. You’re reaping what you sowed when the NPP was in power. There is no way you will get help and you know personally that the party will not help you.”

Apostle Sarkodie further alleged that Wontumi acted with impunity during his party’s time in government, taking advantage of his position, and warned that it is now time to face the consequences.

He urged supporters defending Wontumi to apologise on his behalf to mitigate any potential punishment, cautioning that if the government proceeds with prosecution, Wontumi’s situation would become “very miserable.”

The cleric also expressed concern that Wontumi’s behavior and attitude might be provoking public anger.

Apostle Sarkodie advised party members and followers to avoid escalating tensions and to instead pray for forgiveness and seek peaceful ways to resolve the challenges faced by Wontumi, which he attributed to the chairman’s “loud mouth and arrogance of power.”
